A matte clear coat can help to reduce the visibility of minor imperfections by diffusing light and minimizing reflections, which can make surface flaws less noticeable. However, it won't completely hide significant imperfections or damage; proper surface preparation is still essential for the best results. Removing minor imperfections will also require application of another coat of clear since you cannot buff them out without removing the matte finish.
